International contest of young physicists: and the winner is…

This year's international contest top prizes for young physicists were awarded to the scientists from Project 5-100 universities.

The top prize for “Fundamental physics” was awarded to Alexander Petrov (Laboratory of Optoelectronics and Two-Dimensional Materials, MIPT). The second prize was given to his colleague Andrey Bilinkin. The third prize also got a young physicist from MIPT, Sergey Blinov. The fifth prize went to Vladislav Vorobyev (National research nuclear university “MEPhI”).  

The third prize for “Innovations and technological entrepreneurship” was awarded to Nikolay Skryabin (MIPT).

The winners were among 73 finalists - promising young scientists - who presented their projects at the international contest in Moscow.  

The contest seeks to support national efforts to attract and encourage young people to study science, technology, engineering and maths, and to encourage in choosing careers in science and research. Both the number of participating young scientists from Project 5-100 universities and finalists has grown, there are 73 finalists this year.

The annual contest was organized by Moscow Physical Society, P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian Academic Fund. This event brought together young scientists from 40 Russian and world universities.
