Leading Russian Universities to Receive More Financing within Project 5-100 Framework

Following the terms of the Decree of the Russian Government dated 31 October 2015 (# 1176), the conditions for government aid to leading Russian universities to fund their academic excellence initiatives has been changed.
According to the new edition of the Decree of RF # 211 dated 16 March 2013 “On state support measures for the leading universities of the Russian Federation in order to enhance their competitive standing among global leading research and education centers”, the financing of Project 5-100 in 2016-2017 has been increased up to 14.5 billion rubles per annum in view of the fact that the Project now includes more member-universities. The time-period during which the state budget will fund this program has been extended until the year 2020.
To remind the reader, in 2013 fifteen universities were selected to participate in Project 5-100 in a contest for government aid. In October 2015, the second contest resulted in the addition of another six member-universities to the Project.
